Astrology follows the cycles of the planets to gain an understanding of the patterns of energy that animate our lives and lay out a path for us. When you come for a reading with me, we will discuss the patterns in your chart that indicate character traits as well as important life events that give particular shape to your character.

At any particular moment our lives are guided by cosmic influences, as revealed in the movement of the planets. Knowing how these influences are affecting your natal chart can help you find direction and balance on your path.

Ultimately astrology is a means of knowing the self and the purpose any of us has for being in this life.

I find astrology is an important and accurate guide for timing all sorts of events, whether for business or personal or community purposes.

Using astrology, we can focus on your goals, and I can help you identify obstacles to those goals, find your strengths and bring your efforts in line with the energies flowing around and through you. I have found astrology to be a wonderful tool for accomplishing personal goals.

In the course of a reading we may discover issues that relate to the energies of a particular chakra. Combining yoga with astrology, I will help you alter your environment and establish certain practices to work with that energy and create wholeness.

To make an appointment for a consultation, you will need to know the date and location and time of your birth. For accuracy you should check birth records.

I offer readings in person, by phone or via e-mail. A full reading takes an hour and a half, and my fee is $220. I will also do a one-hour phone reading or an e-mail communication that focuses on a particular question or issue. For these special consultations, my fee for new clients is $190 and the fee for people whose charts I've worked on before is $140. I ask that all fees be paid in cash or by check at or in advance of the consultation.

Technology permitting, readings will be taped. If the tape is audible it's yours to keep for listening again later. You’ll probably want to take notes during the reading as well.

In your initial consultation we will focus on your character and situation in life as well as particular concerns or current goals you may have. Some clients will make follow-up appointments to continue working on a goal or to move through a transition or to restore balance and vitality. Others may benefit from an annual consultation to get a sense of the themes for the year that are likely to affect them and anticipate how they can best handle them.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I ask a question about someone else in my reading?

We all live with someone else, whether the person of concern is a spouse, a lover, a child, a parent, your best friend or your business agent. So a question may come up, and I will answer it – from the viewpoint of your chart, not theirs. In some instances I will look at another person’s chart, but I will ask first if you have his or her permission. That is the best approach, for you and for the person who is not present. And you’ll still find my answers will bring the question back to you.

If there’s some bad news coming up for me, will you tell me?

The future, for any of us, is constantly forming and reforming. The news I can give you is much like the weather report: In itself, the weather is neither good nor bad. How the weather affects us or our plans depends on our perception of it and our responses to it. I will tell you what sort of conditions you are headed into and how you are likely to feel about them. Winning the lottery is not always and for everyone a good thing. And losing a job is not necessarily a bad thing.

How often should I come for a consultation?

People come to me with a wide range of needs and purposes for the consultation. You may be looking for a one-time reading to learn something about your personality, your character or your path in life. Or you might have a particular issue you are working through or a goal you wish to accomplish, and we might set up a few meetings to bring you through that process. Many clients like to schedule a semiannual or annual consultation to get a sense of the six months or year ahead.
You should come when you feel you are ready to look at yourself and see where you’re going and commit to some actions. If you’re looking for a quick answer from someone else so you don’t have to make the decisions yourself, it’s probably too soon – let me know when you’re ready to do the work.

I’ve heard that where I’m living can affect my chart if it’s not where I was born. Can I improve my life by moving to another location?

There are a lot of ways to improve your life right where you are living, and we’ll look mostly at those opportunities. But it is true that certain locations bring out positive traits in you that are harder to access in other places. You know that from common sense and experience; astrology can help identify the trends you’ll run into in another place. We use relocation charts to see the shifts. Keep in mind, though, that your natal chart, set for exactly where you were born, overrides all others. A relocation chart fits you like a new set of clothes – but the person inside is still wrapped in that natal chart.
Each year when your birthday comes around you can have a look at your solar return chart for the themes the year will bring. That chart, set for the moment the sun returns to the exact position it occupies in your natal chart, varies with location. Some clients like to pick a location for their solar return that gives a more promising chart for the year. It’s fun, it works – but it’s not just luck, you will have to work it.

How does an astrology reading differ from a psychic reading?

I believe all astrologers work with some degree of psychic awareness. But we use astrology because it is based on universal laws and operates according to well-defined principles seen in the energy patterns among the planets. In other words, astrology has a frame of reference that is available to anyone who is able to interpret it. Psychic readings rely on the connection between the reader and the client and how they interpret their impressions in the moment. In the end, any reading is worth exactly what the client learns from it and how well he or she can use that information in their life.

What if I don’t know my time of birth?

Most people have a good idea of the time they were born – either from birth records or from parents or others who were present at the birth. But many people don’t have the records and have no reliable accounts to establish the time. I am quite comfortable reading a chart set up for sunrise on the day you were born, a configuration that emphasizes your sense of purpose in life. We won’t know your rising sign, and we will have to interpret the Moon very loosely. In the reading we usually begin to narrow down the possibilities pretty well. In any case, we have plenty of information to discuss your character, your better and worse talents, your trajectory, and the influences that are affecting you now.
One of my specialties is chart rectification: Using the dates of important events in your life we work backwards to discover the natal chart and time of birth that works for you. It’s a rather involved procedure and not a priority for most people, but it can be fun and more than a little enlightening to see how an adjustment in the birth time relates to events and various crossroads in our lives.

What if I give birth information that I discover is incorrect after we’ve done the reading?

Let the fun begin. We may go through an entire reading with a few pieces of information out of line. I believe there are no accidents: What you heard in that reading is something you needed to hear, and if we got to it through a mistake in the chart, then that’s why the mistake was there. When we don’t need it anymore, it gets corrected. And then we learn something more by investigating the changes – it’s perfectly okay to shift our understanding; it happens all the time if we’re paying attention. Stay nimble.

Can you tell me what is going to happen to me?

No. In a reading my role is to help you hear your inner voice and develop an inner wisdom that will help you deal with whatever happens to you or around you. We use astrology to predict what sort of things are likely to happen along your present course, identify alternatives and establish a useful perspective.

How do the migratory birds know when it’s time to fly north in the spring or south for winter?

Obviously birds are guided by an intelligence that is beyond their tiny brains. With their own senses they can read the length of daylight, the phases of the moon, the positions of stars, the angle of the sun and more. They can tune into what their pals in another flock are up to as well. But when one day they’re up in the air and into formation for the trek it’s because they’ve sensed the message that flows through all those movements in the heavens, a celestial pulse, a cosmic wisdom. That sensibility is available to us all.
